Podcasts

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend. Today I want to tell you about two podcasts I've been listening to and enjoying.  Hope Matters Hope Matters is a podcast by Louisa Hope, who is one of the survivors of the Lindt Cafe siege which occurred in December 2014. After that tragic day which shocked our country, Louisa spent about three months in hospital and, as an expression of gratitude for the nurses who took care of her, she founded the Louisa Hope Foundation for Nurses which grants equipment, education and research.  The Hope Matters podcast started in December 2019. In each episode, Louisa talks about her experience reflects on what happened that day and her experience as a hostage. The aim of this podcast is to think about what we have learnt since then, where our society is now, what our government has done and what still needs to be looked at. Through this, her fundraising efforts for the foundation and motivational speaking, Louisa is doing amazing...

Galentine's Day Ideas

Happy Valentine's Day! Remember it is not just for couples, it is a day to celebrate love in all forms and here I am sharing some ideas for how you could celebrate Galentine's day. No that isn't a typo, Galentine's day is a real thing.  It was inspired by an episode of the popular television show, Parks and Recreation, in which the lead character gathers all her female friends every February 13th to celebrate their friendship. This day is complete with delicious food, positive conversation, thoughtful gifts and fun activities. With the pandemic and restrictions still around, I am including some activities you can do at home. Spa day After a busy week, you deserve to relax and feel rejuvenated  so host a spa day at home. Put on light, calming music, wear robes and face masks, and just enjoy the day. Cooking club This one is for a group that enjoys cooking. Select a recipe book and have everyone bring a dish from it. This is a fun way to try out your skills in the kitchen...

Life's A Wreck

Each person who suffers from anxiety, depression and mental health issues or has their own way of coping with it and do different things to relieve stress. One thing I like to do when I'm stressed is to hear other people talk about their own experiences with it and their management tips. I also like to listen to podcasts and in this post I want to tell you about one I recently started listening to. Life's A Wreck is hosted by 22-year-old Kyle Moore who talks about how mental health can affect our daily lives and situations we encounter. He does this using in-depth conversation and humor which I think is unique approach to this topic. Unique and great! In each episode, Kyle explores a part of everyday life and an aspect of mental health. For example, in episode four, he talks about rest, giving our minds and bodies a chance to recover. That is really something a lot of us forget about when we're busy with work, school, taking care of children and everything else. In fact, it...

Healthy Morning Habits

It is really important to have a good morning routine and in this post, I am sharing some morning habits that will help you be more healthy and productive.  Image from Four Wellness Co. 1. Don't jump out of bed too fast. When you wake up, just lay down or sit on your bed and take a few breaths before you get up and start getting ready. This will prevent dizziness which could occur and give you time to fully wake up. 2.  Prepare the night before. If you have school, work or any appointments in the morning, picking your outfit and packing your bag the night before will give you more time.  3. Stretch Stretching in the morning puts you in a relaxed state. If you like exercising in the morning, do it and then stretch afterwards.  4. Hydrate When you first wake up you will be dehydrated so drink a glass of water. Drink it before your coffee because coffee can dehydrate you further. If you don't like the taste of plain water, you can make it better by adding lemon wh...
