FaceTune - An Instagram Repost

Image
Hello! We are are always on our phones, surfing the internet and scrolling through social media, and often we see something that catches our eye, sparks our interest and gets us thinking. I'm going to share with you one of these posts which I saw a few days ago while scrolling through Instagram. @bopo.love: Today I want to talk about: FaceTune. You ever see someone’s picture on Instagram with flawless skin and think “why can’t I have skin like that?” Nobody has skin like that. In the last three or so months, my skin has gone to absolute shit! I’m in the process of finding out if it’s an allergy thing, a hormonal thing, or just my skin losing its crap, but it’s been really, really getting me down! And every time I see an Instagram model or MUA’s face, I can’t help but feel really self conscious and upset that my skin just isn’t doing what it’s supposed to. But you wanna know something? No one’s skin is “perfect”!  I downloaded FaceTune and was able to edit this picture i...

Social Media

Image
Hello, In this post, I am sharing some thoughts on social media. Social media has made some people believe that we need to have certain things, look a certain way and be a certain type of person to be relevant. The truth is, we are all relevant and we are all worth it, no matter what society says. Just because someone has thousands of followers and their photos show a perfect life, it does not mean everything is perfect. They could actually be going through a tough time like we all do. We rarely show the low points in our lives. Recently, I have learnt a few things from being on social media, especially Instagram. I have met some amazing people on it. A few of them have become my best friends but I have also gone through some very tough times because of some people I started talking to. There are both good and bad things about social media. It is great for connecting people all over the world. We can keep in touch with school friends and family, communicate with co-w...

A guide to flat lays

Image
Hello! If you have me as a friend on Facebook or follow me on Instagram, you would have seen that I have been posting flat lays. I started posting them because I was thinking of ways to make my feed more attractive and interesting and looking at other bloggers posts for inspiration. I have received some very nice comments and messages about the ones I've posted so far and I am not an expert but I thought I would share some tips I've learnt on how to take good flat lays photos. For anyone who doesn't know, a flat lay is a picture of items taken from the top to give an impression of them laying flat on the ground. People use them for a various reasons. For example, to show an outfit of the day, things they have purchased or food. Basically, they are a simple and fashionable way to show off your favourite objects and current obsessions in an attractive way. Here are my tips: 1. Choose a plain but interesting background. So far, I've used a white cardboard, the b...

Chronic illnesses - An instagram repost

Image
Hello everyone, While scrolling through Instagram one night I came across a post about things you should not say to people living with chronic illnesses. It was posted by a beautiful young woman named Tayarra Smith and everything she said was spot on and with her permission, I am reposting it here. @taytay_100000 On a good day, a person with a chronic illness might not necessarily "look sick," often leaving those around to them to assume they're not. Well, here is a reality check for those folks. Unfortunately, living with chronic illnesses are an 'invisible illness' which means that you are always sick - some days are just better than others, or it could be continuing to get worse, but they hide it with makeup, with a smile, etc. These crazy chronic illnesses have a funny way of fooling people, which I have learned through the years and hundreds of inappropriate, creepy ignorant and just downright uncompassionate comments. Here are some comments I'v...
