Acts of Kindness

Kmart cashier's act of kindness Linley, a nurse from Sydney was at the checkout in Kmart when she realised she had left her wallet in the car. The retail assistant tried to show her how to use Afterpay but after having difficulty processing her order, she decided to leave and come back with her wallet later that afternoon. When Linley returned, she was surprised to find that the cashier had paid for the items. A note left by the cashier read, "Please accept this as a blessing from me to you and your family. Linley was left in tears and felt blessed to have been on the receiving end of such generosity.  Deli worker goes the extra mile Casey works at the deli in Woolworths and started learning Australian sign language so she could communicate with a local couple who are deaf and regular customers at the store in Maryborough. Healthy Morning Habits

Image
It is really important to have a good morning routine and in this post, I am sharing some morning habits that will help you be more healthy and productive.  Image from Four Wellness Co. 1. Don't jump out of bed too fast. When you wake up, just lay down or sit on your bed and take a few breaths before you get up and start getting ready. This will prevent dizziness which could occur and give you time to fully wake up. 2.  Prepare the night before. If you have school, work or any appointments in the morning, picking your outfit and packing your bag the night before will give you more time.  3. Stretch Stretching in the morning puts you in a relaxed state. If you like exercising in the morning, do it and then stretch afterwards.  4. Hydrate When you first wake up you will be dehydrated so drink a glass of water. Drink it before your coffee because coffee can dehydrate you further. If you don't like the taste of plain water, you can make it better by adding lemon wh...

Work from home tips

Image
Thanks to COVID, we are getting used to doing school and working from home. We love not having to wake up too early, not having to commute to school or to the office and being able to stay in our pyjamas all day, right? But there are a lot of things and people that can distract us, and before we know it, the hours can slip away quickly and we realize we haven't done much or made the best use of our time.  In this post, I am sharing with you a few tips for having a productive day at home.  Image from Pinterest Have a designated space to work or study Keep your work space and relaxing space separate so that the two thoughts don't mix and be sure that you like your work space. Set it up in away that provides comfort because you will be sitting there for 8 hours or more so add a cushion or something to support your back. Remember, it's important to have good posture. If the space is visually appealing, you will enjoy coming to work there so add cute little ornaments, photos of ...

These items can be put into a small pouch, purse, your handbag or backpack to take with you when you go out or in a box at home. The items listed here engage all five of your senses. Sight - Photos of your family, friends and pets are good to have in the kit to show you all the people who love and support you and pets that make you happy.. Things to do on a rain day

Image
Hello, It's been raining and with a lot of people being on school holidays right now, I thought I would share some ideas of things you could do on a rainy day. How many times have you woken up, seen the rain and said, Oh no, I can't go anywhere. What am I going to do today? There's actually a lot you can do. You can still have fun in our own home. Here are some ideas. Read a book: This is my favourite thing to do. Lay in bed or wrap yourself in a blanket on the couch and read. You can take a break from your busy life and transport yourself to the world of the characters for a while. If you're not really a fan of books, grab a magazine. Watch movies and TV Shows: Have a movie marathon and/or binge watch your favourite TV shows. I like having film series marathons like watching all the Harry Potter or Twilight Saga films. Exercise: Rain is no excuse not to exercise. Grab a mat and do some stretches, yoga, sit-ups, push-ups or whatever. If you have an exe...

How To De-Stress

Image
Hello! In this post, I am going to share some ways to relax and handle any stress and anxiety you may have.      1. Light a candle - This is something I have recently started doing. You can get beautiful scented candles at so many different stores, my favourite is Bath & Body Works. I don't light them all the time, just when I'm feeling very stressed or whenever I'm in the mood. 2. Take a hot bath or shower - Put a bath bomb or bubble bath in your tub, get in there or your shower and soak all your troubles away. While you're taking a bath or shower, light a candle or play some music. it will create a more relaxing atmosphere. 3. Read - Reading is very important. Of course you have to read at work and school, like prescribed texts for English but you should make time to read when you're not doing anything else. It doesn't have to be a book. Read an article, newspaper or magazine. It doesn't matter what it is, just read. You will learn...

Attending Concerts Alone

Image
Hello! Photo Credit: hercampus.com Most people see concerts and movies as great activities to do as a group, and they are, but they don't have to be group outings. Most people prefer to go out in a group which is understandable. Maybe you think that going to events by yourself is weird, embarrassing or means you don't have any friends but it's not true. People have different reasons why they would go alone - their friends may not be interested in going to the concert or movie you want to go to or maybe the people you had planned to go with can't go anymore but it's okay. going to things like that alone is awesome! I am going to list some reasons why going to concerts and movies alone is the best. 1. You can decide what you want to go to and when. You don't have to wait around for people to want to go to concerts and movies with you. You can buy a ticket for yourself to any concert, decide which movie you want to see, and a session time. If you go a...

Chronic illnesses - An instagram repost

Image
Hello everyone, While scrolling through Instagram one night I came across a post about things you should not say to people living with chronic illnesses. It was posted by a beautiful young woman named Tayarra Smith and everything she said was spot on and with her permission, I am reposting it here. @taytay_100000 On a good day, a person with a chronic illness might not necessarily "look sick," often leaving those around to them to assume they're not. Well, here is a reality check for those folks. Unfortunately, living with chronic illnesses are an 'invisible illness' which means that you are always sick - some days are just better than others, or it could be continuing to get worse, but they hide it with makeup, with a smile, etc. These crazy chronic illnesses have a funny way of fooling people, which I have learned through the years and hundreds of inappropriate, creepy ignorant and just downright uncompassionate comments. Here are some comments I'v...

A Day At Macleay

Image
Hello! I am going to tell you all about the college I attended and the Journalism course. For months, I had been looking for a place to study Journalism but all I could see were online courses which I didn't want. I was almost ready to give up and keep going with the job I had at the time but then my friend Lauren invited me into her radio studio. While I was there she asked me what my dream job is and I said I would love to write or take photos for a magazine or newspaper. Then she told me about Macleay College where she had been studying Journalism. It sounded so good! That night I discussed it with my mum and registered to attend the college's open day. A few days later, I was called into the college for a meeting with the head of Journalism, Stephen Davis. That gave me the opportunity to ask all the questions I had. After speaking to him I was given a tour of the college which, to my surprise, was so small! After the meeting I still was not sure if I really wante...
