Facts About Simone Biles

Image from Los Angeles Times The eyes of the world have been on Paris this past week since the 2024 Olympic games began in the French capital city last Friday. There are a few sports I like to watch and one of those is the gymnastics. I am in awe of the strong young women wearing beautiful leotards, flipping, tumbling and doing the most powerful and thrilling tricks on the vault, balance beam, bars and floor.  As an Australian, I of course support our home team, but I also enjoy watching the USA team who always do so well and dominate international competitions. This year is no exception, with Simone Biles winning the gold medal in the Women's all-around final for the second time and she is the first woman to win two Olympic all-around titles since Vera Caslavska in 1964 and 1968....

Book Recommendations

Here I am sharing some interesting books I have read. Home to Biloela by Priya Nadesalingam and Rebekah Holt The Nadesalingam family captured the hearts of Australians as they were taken from their home in Biloela and placed into detention in 2018, and fought with the government who made multiple attempts to deport them. With the support of a small group in Biloela and people around the country, they made it back home. In this book, Priya shares her story, from her childhood in Sri Lanka, to making a new life in Australia, her marriage to Nades and birth of their daughters, Kopica and Tharnicaa, and the efforts to prevent the family from being deported.  Charles III, The Inside Story by Robert Hardman  This book is an insightful and intimate look at the first year of King Charles' reign. Author Robert Hardman shares details of the last  few hours of Queen Elizabeth II life, what happened the day she passed away, new information about the state funeral, his first days as t...

Donald Trump & Human Decency

Photo from ABC America and the world is in shock after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The presidential candidate was delivering a campaign speech when shots were fired, hitting him in the ear and causing the crowd to scream. Photos show him with a bleeding face and ear, raising his fist as Secret Service members surrounded him and escorted him off the stage.  I have been following the story and I am appalled, not only by the act of violence itself, but also by people's reactions and comments on it. Whenever I read news articles, I also read the comments and there are always a few negative ones and it is too much. Under articles about the shooting, I have seen quite a few people making jokes about it and wishing that the shooter had succeeded. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that is taking it too far.  First of all, there is no place for any type of violence. It is never the answer and should be condemned. There is ...

Do you have really nice things like expensive cars, big house, tons in savings while traveling the world on vacation? The people you gift do. If not, why are you sending gifts to 20 YEAR OLDS MAKING THEM RICH???For those of you who don’t know, every 100,000 coins a creator gets, they profit $500 while TikTok (owned by China) takes the other $500(50/50 split). Remember that math next time you’re on TikTok and click on “daily/weekly rankings” to see how many coins everyone has by the end of the night. If you take a look at the rankings each n...

His actualy birthday is in November and it is celebrated on the second Saturday of June.
