2019 MTV Video Music Awards

The 36 th  annual MTV Video Music Awards were held on Monday at the Prudential Center in Newark and there were a few memorable moments that people are still talking about. Dominating superstars including Taylor Swift and Cardi B travelled to New Jersey for the ceremony, which also included other types of 2019 pop fandom such as multiple performances in Spanish and the first K-pop award. Taylor Swift was the winner of the night, opening the show by performing  You Need to Calm Down  and  Lover,  both from her recently released seventh LP, and winning three awards, including Video of the Year for  You Need to Calm Down. Ten years after Kanye West famously interrupted her acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs, Swift was able to deliver her speech without any disturbances. “You voting for the video means that you want a world where we’re all treated equally under god, regardless of who you love, regardless of how we identify,” she said. Review: Carnie Vore

Last year children's Author Athena Phillips wrote and published her first book, Herbie's Happy Birthday  which is amazing and now she is back with a second book called Carnie Vore Helps With Chores.  In this book, we are introduced to Herbie's cousin Carnie, an adorable little dinosaur who enjoys helping out around the house. Athena "wrote this book to encourage children to be more of a helper in the world." It definitely does that. I'm going to share my thoughts on it. The cover of the book is absolutely beautiful. It's bright and colourful and I love the purple theme of the room. Purple is my favourite colour so of course I do! The title is written in big font and block letters which makes it easy for children to read. It is a very attractive cover that I think people will be drawn to when they are looking in a library or bookshop. The story follows a day in the life of Carnie. We get to see what she does each day, from waking up, playing,...

Song Review: Drowning

Just over a year after the release of Hopelessly,  Jakob Delgado is back with his second song as a solo artist! The former boy band member started promoting Drowning at the end of last month by posting short lyric videos on Instagram and released the song yesterday. The fans have waited a very long time to hear new music from Jakob and it was worth it. I'm going to share my thoughts on the song. I think Drowning is about a broken relationship. With the words, "Feel like I can sum it up, you've been f***ing with someone..." it sounds like he is talking about someone who cheated on him or did him wrong. It's very easy to assume it's about a girl but really it could be about anyone. Maybe it's about a friend. Whoever the person is doesn't seem to want anything to do with him unless they want something as the lyrics, "you don't call me unless you need a favour," suggest.  Jakob said in an Instagram livestream that he will wri...

Concert Anxiety Tips

Concerts are always so much fun but they can be hard for panic attack and anxiety sufferers. Here, I am sharing some tips for going to concerts with anxiety. Photo: Sweatpants & Coffee 1. Where comfortable clothing and footwear. As it is winter here and the nights are particularly cold, you will need a jacket but when you are inside with the crowd of people, jumping up and down and dancing, it will get hot and your anxiety can cause you to sweat so wear short sleeves or light clothes and flat and comfortable shoes. High heels are not a good idea as you will be standing for a long time, you do't want your feet to hurt, 2. Choose the right bag Take a bag small enough to hold the essentials such as your ticket, phone, money and keys. One you can carry on your shoulder is best so there's no weight on your arms and your hands are free. 3. Don't forget a phone charger You will be using it to take photos and videos all night which drains your battery and if i...

Got Me Singing Video Review

Jaafar Jackson, the son of Jermaine Jackson of The Jackson 5 , has just released is debut single. It is called Got Me Singing  and was written by 22-year-old Jaafar and veteran producer Hardy Indiigo. It was released on all music platforms including Apple Music and Spotify on Friday and the music video was uploaded on YouTube a few hours later. Here I am going to write a short review of the video. At the start of the video, we get a birds-eye view of a city and see Jaafar riding on the back of a motorcycle. The location appears on screen - Vidigal, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The clothes Jaafar and everyone is wearing give a Caribbean, summer vibe. The song actually starts a minute into the video and the first sounds accompany views of houses and different parts of the city. I like that because we get to know a little bit of Brazil. The first shot of Jaafar is taken on a rooftop. His outfit goes well with the background. The camera then cuts to a beautiful woman who plays the lo...
