I Call Sydney Home

Image
After a few days of rain, I took advantage of a little bit of sunshine that appeared one day and headed into the city for photography session. I packed up my DSLR camera and caught the train to Circular Quay where I took photos of the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and surrounding buildings. Those who know me well know that I really enjoy photography and will happily snap away for hours. I sat on a bench watching other people walking around taking photos and the boats going by and thought about how much I love this city. I was born and brought up here and it is one of the most beautiful places ever, There is so much to see and do here - a diverse range of restaurants to dine at, tourist attractions, cinemas, theatres, beautiful gardens, parks and buildings. I love walking around the city pretending to be a tourist taking photos in front of the iconic landmarks and looking in all the shops. Whenever any of my friends and family from other states and counties come here, I am more than ha...

Inspiring Photographers

Image
Hey everyone! I absolutely love taking photos. My parents bought me a DSLR camera, a Nikon D5100, for Christmas a few years ago and I have used it at almost every party and family gathering and taken it on a few outings to the city. In my final two semesters at college, I was on the newsroom photography team so I took it with me on assignments and those photos were used in quite a few news articles, written by myself and other students. It was so exciting to see my photos being used in the media. After finishing college, I didn't use my camera for a very long time. I only took it out when we had family come over for birthdays and other special occasions. I have only just recently taking out more and now I actually want to seriously learn and improve my skills because photography is a very important part of journalism. Lately I have been looking at photography accounts on Instagram and drawing inspiration from them. Below is a list of amazing photographers and the types of phot...

ShoreShocked Battle of the Bands

Image
Hello! A lot of you  know that I love music and enjoy going to concerts, I have been to so many in the last few years. My favourite genre of music is pop but lately I have been keen to listen to different types. In this post, I am going to tell you about a new band I saw earlier this year. The Lazy Eyes are an alternative/psychedelic rock band consisting of four members - Harvey (Singer and guitar) Itay (singer and guitar), Blake (Bass), and Noah (Drums) who are all in year 11 at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. I first heard about these guys from friends who were already fans. They had been talking about this band so much that I just had to check them out on social media. I watched a few videos of them performing and, surprisingly, I actually liked what I heard and saw so then I wanted to see them live so I liked their Facebook page and waited for an event to be posted. On the evening of February 24, I saw them at Shoreshocked Battle of the Bands ...

YouTubers

Image
Hello everyone, This post is about YouTubers, who for those who may not know, are Internet celebrities and videographers who have gained popularity from their videos on YouTube. As with bloggers, there are various types of YouTubers, including: Beauty Travel Lifestyle Food Entertainment Do It Yourself projects (DIY's) and many more. Some YouTubers make videos on more than one subject. For example, a YouTuber's may make videos on both food and lifestyle. They have different reasons for making videos. For some, it is something fun to do in their free time and for others, it may be a stepping stone into the entertainment industry. For many, making YouTube videos is their full time job and they make money from it. When you look at people like Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, Carly Rae Jepson, Tori Kelly and Ed Sheeran, it's amazing to think that they all started by posting covers of songs on YouTube. Many YouTubers are now recording artists, models, authors and...

Bring It On festival & Amplify

Image
Hello, Last Sunday 9th April I went to the Bring It On festival, which for those who don't know, is part of Fairfield City Council's National Youth Week program and attracts more than 10,000 people each year. I have always wanted to go but have never been able to until now. There was an amazing line up of performers including Yours Truly, pop punk band and Vlado, The Fisher Boys and In Stereo all former contestants on the X Factor. I caught the train to Cabramatta station and my friend picked me up and we went to Fairfield Showground together. We arrived at about 10.30am and sat in front of the main stage where Dylan Rass was performing. At that point there were not too many people and I felt very relaxed listening to the music and after a while my friend and I decided to go for a walk and look at what else the festival had to offer. There were many different stalls selling food and drinks, knick knacks and show bags as well as rides and games. We did a short survey wh...

Celebrities are humans too

Image
Hey guess what? Celebrities are humans too. You may be thinking, "hey of course, we know they are" but it seems like some people need to be told. I'm going to show you a few examples of celebrities being treated badly and share my opinions on them. A couple of weeks ago when Justin Bieber was here in Australia for his tour, there were times where he was not treated very well. For example, that much reported sour encounter with a fan in Melbourne. The 20-year old fan had been following him around and when she saw him step out of a car near Crown casino, she rushed over and told him she was going to take a selfie with him. He wasn't in a good mood and did not want to take photos. He said "You're invading my privacy, I don't want a photo" but she told him she was going to take the photo anyway and started snapping away. He said "Look at you, you make me sick." You can read all about it here - http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/cel...
