Are there times when you really want to go out and do something fun but your friends, family or partners would rather stay in or do something else? If yes, that's okay, you can still go enjoy yourself.
We all are so busy with work, school, taking care of children and other things in our lives, sometimes we forget to make time for ourselves and it can take it's toll on our bodies and minds. After working hard all week, we all deserve to have fun, de-stress and treat ourselves once in a while and not being able to convince people to join you for outings and activities doesn't have to stop you.
You can actually have fun and enjoy your own company. Going out alone can be a daunting experience, especially for people who have social anxiety, but it feels good and sometimes you feel more relaxed. Here I'm going to share some Solo date ideas.

Here are some thins you can do outside of your home
- Grab a coffee - Go to your favorite cafe, get a coffee or beverage of your choice and sit down and relax. You could take a book or magazine to read or, if you have a journal, you could write in that or just watch everything happening around you. You probably have a usual order but you could try something new, maybe a different type of coffee or hot chocolate, treat yourself to a piece of cake or something you don't usually get.
- Have lunch or dinner at a restaurant - People usually dine out with family or friends but it doesn't have to be with a group. You can get dressed up, put on some make-up if you want to and go to a nice place to eat. Order anything you want from the menu, within your budget of course, and enjoy the atmosphere. This can be scary and you might be thinking that people are judging you, but they're most probably not. Everyone will be too focused on their own groups and meals.
- You could make these coffee/dinner outings "Getting to know yourself" dates. Before you go, write down some questions you might ask a date or someone you're meeting for the first time and while you're there, answer them. You could just think about the answers. It probably seems strange but it is possible to learn new things about yourself.
- Go to the cinema - Go see the movie you've been hearing so much about and wanting to see. When you go to the cinema alone, you can choose the movie and the snacks you want. There won't be an argument over sweet or salty snacks, you can get popcorn or candy or both and if you decide you're not enjoying the movie you can just leave without having to drag someone out or being forced to stay.
