Young musicians to check out

Hello!

I am sure you're all aware by now that I love music and going to live concerts and shows. Of course, I love listening to the big international stars like Ariana Grande, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Celine Dion and artists right here in Australia like Justice Crew and Trent Bell, just to name a few, but I also love listening to different types of music and finding new singers and bands on social media.

In this post, I am going to share a few of these musicians I've seen recently.

1. Maddie Simpson
Maddie is a 20-year-old from America and has just released her first single titled Love Me Loud. She posted the cover art of her single on Instagram and in the caption she said, "I hope at least one person resonates with this song and makes them want to dance and fall in love." Well, it definitely does that for me. I have played it a few times and admit that I have danced along while doing other work.
She told V Magazine, "I picked 'Love Me Loud' to introduce myself to the world because I didn’t want to make a quiet debut. I wrote this song about that back-and-forth with someone you’re falling for, and that it’s okay to be bold and make the first move. There’s plenty more to come, but this song definitely embodies me as an artist and as a 20-year-old young woman."
Love Me Loud gives me feels and it's a song I will be listening to often and would play at every party. Maddie is absolutely stunning and seems like a really nice person. The song is available on all platforms now!

2. Rene-Charles Angelil
The son of one of my favourite singers, Celine Dion, is following in her footsteps and slowly stepping into the music industry as a rapper. I was watching Celine videos on YouTube one afternoon, feeling sad that I wasn't able to see her while she was here, and saw Rene-Charles on a screen rapping in her performance of Michael Jackson's Black or White. After that I googled him and found his Instagram account. Rene-Charles has posted a few rap songs on Soundcloud under the name 'Big Tip'. I've listened to all of them and wow, he's only 17 but sounds so much older. My favourite is his latest one, Right Now. His music is so different to Celine but he is very talented. Rene-Charles is one to watch!

3. Shirina
This beautiful girl busks in the city and has a few videos on YouTube. I love her Mess I've made music video. If I happen to be in the area where she's busking I would stop and watch her and give her a little money to support her.

4. The Lazy Eyes
Okay, so this band isn't really a new discovery. I have been following them for a while now and seen them perform live twice. You may have even read my posts about them here on this blog. For anyone who doesn't know The Lazy Eyes, they are a band of four guys - Harvey, Blake, Itay and Noah from Sydney who play psychedelic rock music. The Lazy Eyes won the 2017 National song competition and appeared on Sunrise earlier this year. They are talented! Something about them fascinates me. They are very cool and I suggest you all go check them out!

Virtual Stop #1: Lymington - A Seaside Gem Discovered by Chance

Welcome to my virtual travel series, where I explore beautiful corners of the world without leaving my bed. Inspired by TikTok livestreamers and walking tour videos, these posts capture what I see, feel and learn as I journey through new places from afar.  I wasn't planning to visit Lymington - not virtually, not in any way. I had never heard of it before watching my favorite singing buskers livestream from the quaint little town in the UK and now I'm captivated. The charm of Lymington unfolded before my eyes: Cobbled pathways, rows of boats bobbing gently at the marina and friendly locals to stop and enjoy the music. I experienced it from my bed.  There is something so welcoming about the town, The people passing by weren't just polite - they were supportive. Some clapped, others left kind words or a few coins, and a few even stayed for songs. There are three ladies who go often to support the guys. They have all been following them on TikTok for a while and met each other...

The Prove It Game

The public opinions on Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are divided. Some love her and most seem to hate her. I admire her in some ways. I just watched an interview she did with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima and something she said resonated with me.  Image from Jamie Kern Lima YouTube.  Here it is: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something. You have to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove that you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend, and I am just so done with the prove it game. When you get to the place where you feel like I don't have to prove anything to you anymore. I don't have to prove that I'm a good person, I don't have to prove that I'm a good wife or mum or friend, I don't have to prove that I work hard. It can be really freeing when you stop playing the prove it game." - Meghan Markle. I completely agree with...

Social Media Ban

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the Australian Government will enact laws to ban children under 16 years of age from social media and here I am sharing my thoughts on this.  Image from The Chapel Hairdressers - Horsham Facebook page  There are many benefits of social media. We can share photos and videos with our families and friends to keep them updated on our lives, instantly communicate with them, have a record of special memories, businesses can promote their products and services, connect with people professionally and do so much more. So many people are working on social media full time as influencers, working with brands and creating content online  and some have even married people they met online.  Social media can also be used as a weapon.   Preteens and teenagers go through puberty, stress about getting good grades at school, do their best to live up to their parents expectations, have many things they are worried about and just wan...
