The Voice Australia 2018

Hello!

Well, The Voice is over for another year. The grand finale on Sunday night was both nerve-wracking and exciting and the top four sang their hearts out for votes. At the end of the night Sam Perry was announced as the winner. To be honest, I was very surprised that he won but he deserved it.

In this post, I'm going to take a look back on this season's performances and share my favourites in each round, in no particular order.

The Knockouts
Sally Skelton - Skyscraper
This was a beautiful performance. Sally has a strong voice and I think she sounded just as good as the original artist Demi Lovato. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9ej8Htlg_c&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HKX-TpJVgs-Z-53zhTfzRB1&index=23

Trent Bell - I See Fire
I absolutely loved this performance by Trent. I have been a fan of him since his days in the band The Collective and have been lucky to see him live a few times. He sings with so much passion and you can tell how much he loves music and wants a career in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsvGk38Vrgk&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HKX-TpJVgs-Z-53zhTfzRB1&index=42

Battle Rounds
Jacinta Gulisano - How Will I know
I think Jacinta has an angelic voice. She's beautiful and I always love listening to her sing.

Sheldon Riley - Diamonds
Everything about Sheldon is amazing. I love his uniqueness and he sounded so good in this round.

The Live Shows & Semi Finals
Trent Bell - Every performance
I can't decide which of Trent's live performances was my favourite so I'm just going to say I enjoyed all of them, he was perfect in every round!. Here's a link to his first live performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVEDPc4474Y&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HL0IYuTeyix4NMIzCok8f8k&index=23

Aydan Calafiore - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
At just 17 years old, Aydan is amazing and I think he did so well with this performance. I'm sure singing and dancing at the same time is hard but he did it with ease and from what I could see, his dance moves were perfect. This was one of my favourite performances of the whole season! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_pRCB4rCuM&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HJDKViGQOYmhL8sAyqxvRcb

Bella Paige - No Tears Left To Cry & All By Myself
I can't believe this girl is only 16! She belts out every song strongly. She sounds so powerful and I'm no expert on music but I can't see any flaws in her performances. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sJtv3zT76g&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HJDKViGQOYmhL8sAyqxvRcb&index=5

Sheldon Riley - Born This Way
In my opinion, this song was perfect for Sheldon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkASMsv_VL4&list=PLizqsTy3Q-HLi9cpOygQ-O2YXOllnm3Qt

The Grand Finale
The top four - Sheldon, Bella, Aydan and Sam were amazing in all there final solo performancees.
They each performed a duet with their coach and these were my two favourites:
Aydan Calafiore & Joe Jonas - Shut Up and Dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koBIgQd8aJk
Bella Paige & Kelly Rowland - Last Dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqBC6ldbsTQ

Their opening group performance of 'This Is Me' from The Greatest Showman was beautiful.

Congratulations to Sam Perry on winning the competition!!! I know all these people will go on to do incredible things and have successful careers in music. I am enjoying listening to the top four's singles and looking forward to hearing more music from all the artists of The Voice!

Top Four Singles

Virtual Stop #1: Lymington - A Seaside Gem Discovered by Chance

Welcome to my virtual travel series, where I explore beautiful corners of the world without leaving my bed. Inspired by TikTok livestreamers and walking tour videos, these posts capture what I see, feel and learn as I journey through new places from afar.  I wasn't planning to visit Lymington - not virtually, not in any way. I had never heard of it before watching my favorite singing buskers livestream from the quaint little town in the UK and now I'm captivated. The charm of Lymington unfolded before my eyes: Cobbled pathways, rows of boats bobbing gently at the marina and friendly locals to stop and enjoy the music. I experienced it from my bed.  There is something so welcoming about the town, The people passing by weren't just polite - they were supportive. Some clapped, others left kind words or a few coins, and a few even stayed for songs. There are three ladies who go often to support the guys. They have all been following them on TikTok for a while and met each other...

The Prove It Game

The public opinions on Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are divided. Some love her and most seem to hate her. I admire her in some ways. I just watched an interview she did with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima and something she said resonated with me.  Image from Jamie Kern Lima YouTube.  Here it is: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something. You have to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove that you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend, and I am just so done with the prove it game. When you get to the place where you feel like I don't have to prove anything to you anymore. I don't have to prove that I'm a good person, I don't have to prove that I'm a good wife or mum or friend, I don't have to prove that I work hard. It can be really freeing when you stop playing the prove it game." - Meghan Markle. I completely agree with...

Social Media Ban

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the Australian Government will enact laws to ban children under 16 years of age from social media and here I am sharing my thoughts on this.  Image from The Chapel Hairdressers - Horsham Facebook page  There are many benefits of social media. We can share photos and videos with our families and friends to keep them updated on our lives, instantly communicate with them, have a record of special memories, businesses can promote their products and services, connect with people professionally and do so much more. So many people are working on social media full time as influencers, working with brands and creating content online  and some have even married people they met online.  Social media can also be used as a weapon.   Preteens and teenagers go through puberty, stress about getting good grades at school, do their best to live up to their parents expectations, have many things they are worried about and just wan...
