YouTube Favorites

Hello! I am back with another 'YouTube Favorites' post where I am sharing some of my favorite YouTube channels and videos I have enjoyed watching.  1. Kaleb Dahlgren is an athlete and public speaker from Canada. This video was taken at an event in 2019 where Kaleb spoke about his life, perseverance and resilience. It was very interesting and he gave some really good advice that everyone can use. Watching and hearing him speak in presentations like this and interviews has helped a lot of people, including me. I don't really know Kaleb but I can tell he is a kind-hearted, humble person who is a role model and has done and will continue to do amazing things in life. Kaleb is the type of person everyone would want in their corner. He is a great speaker and teaches us really useful lessons like how to overcome adversity and have a positive attitude. I highly recommend watching this.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5009pfCh08U 2. Over the last few months, there have been many v...

The importance of seat belts on buses

There has been an ongoing debate over seat belts on buses and here I am sharing my thoughts on this and why I believe seat belts should be mandatory on buses.  Photo from busnews.com.au As soon as we get into a car we put on seat belts because the law states that it is compulsory. In Australia, we are so strict about car seat laws so why are bus laws so relaxed? Some children ask why they have wear seat belts in the car when they don’t have to wear them in buses. This is a good point. People could be hurt on buses in so many ways because they are big and sometimes make sudden stops and movements. Passengers get in and before they sit down, the bus starts moving, causing them to trip and fall. It has happened to me a few times. I mean, I haven’t fallen in the bus but have come close. We could slide around on the seats as it turns and if the bus makes a sudden stop, we could be launched forward, hit the seat in front or even be launched out. One afternoon when I was going home in a b...

Mental Health

The pandemic has changed our lives and brought many challenges. The way we learn, work and live everyday is so different now because of the restrictions and rules set in place and, understandably, the need for emotional and mental health support has increased.  World Mental Health Day is on the 10th October every year and the purpose is to raise awareness about mental health around the world. I am two days late but in this post, I want to share some thoughts on mental health and how to take care of yourself and each other.  Finding ways to be productive in lock down can be difficult. It definitely must have been challenging when it all started back in March. You have probably been told that now is the time to learn and start something new like do a course online and re-train yourself, learn a new language or start a business and that is true but if you haven't done anything like that, don't feel bad. We are all working and doing school online, keeping up with chores around the...
