Insomnia by TJ Jackson

TJ Jackson has released a single called Insomnia, which is amazing! I'm going to share my thoughts on he song and video

TJ Jackson's first solo release!

First, for those who don't know who TJ is, he is a member of the famous musical family the Jacksons. He is the son of Tito of the legendary Jackson Five and is a member of R&B/pop music group 3T with his brothers Taj and Taryll. 3T were mentored by their uncle Michael and signed to his record label. They released their debut album, Brotherhood, in 1995.

The Jacksons were among the first black American performers to gain a following and have been successful in the music industry since they were signed with Motown in 1968 and 3T are popular all over the world. There must be a lot of pressure that comes with the name Jackson and because of all the hits from several members of the family, we expect every song they release to be really good and TJ has definitely lived up to those expectations!

Now let me tell you a little about the song. When I heard the title, Insomnia, I thought it was going to be sad or depressing because Insomnia is the inability to sleep and I thought oh no, when someone can't sleep they need to see a doctor and get medication but that is not what this is about. In an interview with BSM magazine, TJ said "I remember experiencing a couple of nights where I could't go to sleep. I was up with my wife and we were like kids not wanting the night to end. To me, it was a story that hasn't been told. Insomnia always has a negative connotation and I wanted something to kind of reverse the meaning. The tagline is 'beautiful insomnia' and I wanted to show that it can be a good thing as well." So in this case, the reason someone is unable to sleep is because they are having a good time with their partner or friend and want to spend more time with them. I think that's beautiful. It's a slow, sultry song which gives off good vibes and I feel it can be played anytime you need cheering up or are thinking about your husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend or even just a friend. TJ's voice is very soft and soothing and when I hear it and this song, I feel calm. All the Jacksons have a similar sound.

The music video was shot in Paris. It opens wiith TJ and a woman on a balcony looking at the Eiffel Tower and the his name and the song title appear on the screen. Then it says french words which translate into "Realised by" Omar Piechurski and Gaby Song who I guess are producers who worked on the video. The woman who stars in it is Stella Kimberley, a French Model who is absolutley gorgeous. She and TJ play a couple in love and they have really good chemistry which is necessary for this type of acting to work. You would be forgiven for thinking they actually were a couple, theyre acting is amazing! I love that the whole video is shot in black and white. It adds to the romanctic setting. To be honest. I don't think kids should watch it because it is very sensual but it is so well done. I think anyone who has grown up listening to and watching the Jacksons and 3T will be shocked at how mature TJ is because they could still think of him as a young heartthrob from the early days of his band but he is in his 40's now, a husband, father and guardian of beautiful children. I think it's great that he is still working on music at this stage in his life.

Congratulations TJ, Stella and everyone involved in the making of this video. You all have done a wonderful job!

Virtual Stop #1: Lymington - A Seaside Gem Discovered by Chance

Welcome to my virtual travel series, where I explore beautiful corners of the world without leaving my bed. Inspired by TikTok livestreamers and walking tour videos, these posts capture what I see, feel and learn as I journey through new places from afar.  I wasn't planning to visit Lymington - not virtually, not in any way. I had never heard of it before watching my favorite singing buskers livestream from the quaint little town in the UK and now I'm captivated. The charm of Lymington unfolded before my eyes: Cobbled pathways, rows of boats bobbing gently at the marina and friendly locals to stop and enjoy the music. I experienced it from my bed.  There is something so welcoming about the town, The people passing by weren't just polite - they were supportive. Some clapped, others left kind words or a few coins, and a few even stayed for songs. There are three ladies who go often to support the guys. They have all been following them on TikTok for a while and met each other...

The Prove It Game

The public opinions on Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are divided. Some love her and most seem to hate her. I admire her in some ways. I just watched an interview she did with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima and something she said resonated with me.  Image from Jamie Kern Lima YouTube.  Here it is: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something. You have to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove that you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend, and I am just so done with the prove it game. When you get to the place where you feel like I don't have to prove anything to you anymore. I don't have to prove that I'm a good person, I don't have to prove that I'm a good wife or mum or friend, I don't have to prove that I work hard. It can be really freeing when you stop playing the prove it game." - Meghan Markle. I completely agree with...

Social Media Ban

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the Australian Government will enact laws to ban children under 16 years of age from social media and here I am sharing my thoughts on this.  Image from The Chapel Hairdressers - Horsham Facebook page  There are many benefits of social media. We can share photos and videos with our families and friends to keep them updated on our lives, instantly communicate with them, have a record of special memories, businesses can promote their products and services, connect with people professionally and do so much more. So many people are working on social media full time as influencers, working with brands and creating content online  and some have even married people they met online.  Social media can also be used as a weapon.   Preteens and teenagers go through puberty, stress about getting good grades at school, do their best to live up to their parents expectations, have many things they are worried about and just wan...
