Must-Watch TV Shows

Hello!

In this post, I will be sharing some of my favorite TV shows that I think everyone should watch.
I will just give you a brief description of what each show is about. These aren't in any particular order.

Friends - A Sitcom which first aired in September 1994 and ended in May 2004 after ten seasons. It revolves around six friends - Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross aged 20-30 living in Manhattan New York and hilariously depicts their romantic adventures and career issues. Friends became one of the most popular sitcoms of its time and won many awards. I have watched the series so many times!

Dance Moms - An American reality series, which follows a team of child dancers (all preteen girls) as they train for competitions and prepare for careers in show business under the tutelage of their very strict instructor Abby Lee Miller. As well as rehearsals and competitions, each episode shows the mothers arguing with Abby and each other while helping their daughters succeed and some rivalries between the girls. The show's success was often credited to the conflict among Abby and the mothers, along with the weekly dances and close relationships between the girls. The show was originally set in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and relocated to Los Angeles. California in season 5. Over the seven seasons, viewers from all over the world fell in love with the girls who have gone on to have successful careers in all areas of show business.

The Next Step - This is a Canadian teen drama series which focuses on a group of dancers at The Next Step Dance Studio. It is shot in a mockumentary style. The show has been nominated for and won awards and gone on tour, performing live shows for their fans all around the world.

Stranger Things - Stranger Things is a science fiction-horror web television series set in a town called Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980's. The focus of the show's first season is the investigation into a young boy's disappearance and supernatural events happening in the town. The second season is set a year after the first and focuses on the characters attempting to return to normal life and dealing with consequences of the first.

The Crown - The Crown is a historical drama series on Netflix. It is a biographical show about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, with the first season covering her marriage to Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh to the break up of her sister Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend's engagement. Two seasons have aired and they were well received. The Queen and other members of the royal family have watched and are fans of the show.

Riverdale - This series is based on the characters of the Archie Comics. and follows Archie Andrews' life in a small town called Riverdale and explores the towns hidden darkness. It stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Cole Sprouse. The series first aired in 2017 and received positive reviews. The third season is set to premiere in October.

Fuller House - An sitcom which airs on Netflix and is a sequel to the 1987-1995 series Full House. (Of course I'm a fan of that too!) It relvolves around veterinarian and widowed mother of three sons DJ Tanner-Fuller, her sister Stephanie, best friend Kimmy and Kimmy's teenage daughter who live together in their childhood home in San Francisco, California. All of the original cast members reprise their roles except Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen who shared the role of Michelle Tanner.

Mother and Son - This is an Australian show which aired on the ABC from January 1984 to March 1994. It is about a man named Arthur taking care of his elderly mother, Maggie. Their relationship is fascinating. Maggie's attacks and emotional manipulation of Arthur disguised her deep dependence on him and Arthur's love for Maggie conflicted with his guilty frustration at the huge limitations for his own life from taking care of her, The plot addresses the problems of ageing and taking care of someone with increasing memory loss in a light-hearted way, a comendy with a bit of sadness mixed in. It's an old show but I think people of all ages will enjoy it.

So these are a few of my favourite shows. I might do another post to show more shows I like. I hope you enjoy this!

Vishi xoxo

Virtual Stop #1: Lymington - A Seaside Gem Discovered by Chance

Welcome to my virtual travel series, where I explore beautiful corners of the world without leaving my bed. Inspired by TikTok livestreamers and walking tour videos, these posts capture what I see, feel and learn as I journey through new places from afar.  I wasn't planning to visit Lymington - not virtually, not in any way. I had never heard of it before watching my favorite singing buskers livestream from the quaint little town in the UK and now I'm captivated. The charm of Lymington unfolded before my eyes: Cobbled pathways, rows of boats bobbing gently at the marina and friendly locals to stop and enjoy the music. I experienced it from my bed.  There is something so welcoming about the town, The people passing by weren't just polite - they were supportive. Some clapped, others left kind words or a few coins, and a few even stayed for songs. There are three ladies who go often to support the guys. They have all been following them on TikTok for a while and met each other...

The Prove It Game

The public opinions on Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are divided. Some love her and most seem to hate her. I admire her in some ways. I just watched an interview she did with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima and something she said resonated with me.  Image from Jamie Kern Lima YouTube.  Here it is: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something. You have to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove that you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend, and I am just so done with the prove it game. When you get to the place where you feel like I don't have to prove anything to you anymore. I don't have to prove that I'm a good person, I don't have to prove that I'm a good wife or mum or friend, I don't have to prove that I work hard. It can be really freeing when you stop playing the prove it game." - Meghan Markle. I completely agree with...

Social Media Ban

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the Australian Government will enact laws to ban children under 16 years of age from social media and here I am sharing my thoughts on this.  Image from The Chapel Hairdressers - Horsham Facebook page  There are many benefits of social media. We can share photos and videos with our families and friends to keep them updated on our lives, instantly communicate with them, have a record of special memories, businesses can promote their products and services, connect with people professionally and do so much more. So many people are working on social media full time as influencers, working with brands and creating content online  and some have even married people they met online.  Social media can also be used as a weapon.   Preteens and teenagers go through puberty, stress about getting good grades at school, do their best to live up to their parents expectations, have many things they are worried about and just wan...
