The Royal Wedding

Hello everyone!

The world just watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get married in a beautiful ceremony in St George's chapel at Windsor Castle. In this post, I'm going to share my thoughts on everything from the arrivals to the procession.

Arrival of Prince Harry and Prince William:
I was very surprised that Harry and his brother and best man William walked to the chapel, it seemed to be a bit of a long walk and I thought they might get tired and what if they start sweating? They looked smart and handsome in their suits. I thought Harry might shave his beard for the occasion. He didn't but still looked good.

Meghan Markle's wedding dress:
All Royal brides have worn grand dresses with patterns, lace and a lot of work on them with very long trains so I expected Meghan's dress to be the same but it was a very simple white gown with a long veil designed by Clare Waight Keller, the first female artistic director of Givenchy. A lot of social media users didn't like it and were commenting things like it was "boring" and "the worst dress ever" but I loved the simplicity of it and the slight off-the-shoulder part gave it a modern look and the tribute to the commonwealth countries on the veil was a nice touch.

Meghan's arrival and walk down the aisle:
Usually you see a maid of honor or flower girl helping the bride with her dress but two of the page boys, the sons of her friend Jessica Mulroney, did it for Meghan which I thought was so sweet. They held the ends of her veil as she walked up the steps and entered the chapel. The page boys and bridesmaids, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte followed as Meghan walked halfway down the aisle boy herself and then with Prince Charles the rest of the way. I would have loved to see her mother Doria walk her down the aisle but it was sweet of Charles to do that for her.

Page boys and bridesmaids:
The children looked so cute! The boys wore similar suits to Harry and William and the girls worse basic white dresses with flowers on their heads. Most of them were too young to understand just how big the event they were involved in was but one of the pageboys was clearly very excited. The image of him smiling widely as Meghan prepared to walk down the aisle went viral.

Wedding vows:
The vows were beautiful but the "Harry, will you take Meghan...." and "Meghan, will you take Harry...." part confused me because after they both said "I will" people laughed, even they did. I don't understand why.

The Rev Bishop Michael Curry:
I loved his speech. It was really good and light-hearted, the congregation, including the royal family and the couple had a laugh. I think it went on for too long but it was enjoyable.

Interactions between Harry and Meghan:
There were quite a few sweet moments between Harry and Meghan during the ceremony including his reaction to seeing her and the way she looked at him when he removed her veil. Of course, the kiss between the newly married couple was the moment everyone was waiting for, it happened quickly.

Carriage Procession:
After the ceremony, Harry and Meghan went on a carriage procession through the streets of Windsor. I loved seeing the happy couple waving at the crowd of well-wishers who had waited for hours, even days, to catch a glimpse of them. I thought it was nice that the rode through some quite streets where there wasn't anyone around so they could have a private moment to enjoy the ride by themselves.

Congratulations Harry and Meghan, who are now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

Virtual Stop #1: Lymington - A Seaside Gem Discovered by Chance

Welcome to my virtual travel series, where I explore beautiful corners of the world without leaving my bed. Inspired by TikTok livestreamers and walking tour videos, these posts capture what I see, feel and learn as I journey through new places from afar.  I wasn't planning to visit Lymington - not virtually, not in any way. I had never heard of it before watching my favorite singing buskers livestream from the quaint little town in the UK and now I'm captivated. The charm of Lymington unfolded before my eyes: Cobbled pathways, rows of boats bobbing gently at the marina and friendly locals to stop and enjoy the music. I experienced it from my bed.  There is something so welcoming about the town, The people passing by weren't just polite - they were supportive. Some clapped, others left kind words or a few coins, and a few even stayed for songs. There are three ladies who go often to support the guys. They have all been following them on TikTok for a while and met each other...

The Prove It Game

The public opinions on Meghan Markle, or Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are divided. Some love her and most seem to hate her. I admire her in some ways. I just watched an interview she did with podcast host Jamie Kern Lima and something she said resonated with me.  Image from Jamie Kern Lima YouTube.  Here it is: "We spend so much of our lives trying to prove something. You have to prove that you're enough, you have to prove that you're pretty enough, you have to prove that you're smart enough, you have to prove that you're a good wife or a good friend, and I am just so done with the prove it game. When you get to the place where you feel like I don't have to prove anything to you anymore. I don't have to prove that I'm a good person, I don't have to prove that I'm a good wife or mum or friend, I don't have to prove that I work hard. It can be really freeing when you stop playing the prove it game." - Meghan Markle. I completely agree with...

Social Media Ban

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that the Australian Government will enact laws to ban children under 16 years of age from social media and here I am sharing my thoughts on this.  Image from The Chapel Hairdressers - Horsham Facebook page  There are many benefits of social media. We can share photos and videos with our families and friends to keep them updated on our lives, instantly communicate with them, have a record of special memories, businesses can promote their products and services, connect with people professionally and do so much more. So many people are working on social media full time as influencers, working with brands and creating content online  and some have even married people they met online.  Social media can also be used as a weapon.   Preteens and teenagers go through puberty, stress about getting good grades at school, do their best to live up to their parents expectations, have many things they are worried about and just wan...
