Review: High Hopes Music Video By Yours Truly

Hello! Sydney pop punk band Yours Truly have just released the music video for their song 'High Hopes' . In this post, I will write a review of the video but first, I will break down the song a little bit and tell you what I think it is about. Yours Truly Photo: Kangiten Productions The lyrics of the song tell the story of a relationship, maybe between a couple or friends. "You've got the nerve to come and say that you're not standing in my way when we both know that you're not who you said you are and you're a mess, and know it, even though you tried so hard to show it." Someone manipulated a partner or friend into thinking they're something they're not and couldn't keep up the act. "I had high hopes up to now and I was kind of hoping you could be my hero." The partner or friend admired their noble qualities, courage or achievements and trusted them. "You can take it back with the right track, all I know...

Interview: Harvey Karate (The Lazy Eyes)

Hello! In this post, I am sharing with you an interview with a young, up-and-coming musician named Harvey Karate. Harvey Karate What inspired you to get into music? Listening and seeing other musicians play music. I wanted to be just like them. Has it always been a passion or have you wanted to do anything else, like sports or acting? I used to do tennis and tap dancing but music has always been underlying throughout my life. What type of music are you into? I enjoy many genres as long as they are interesting. My favourite genre would probably be psychedelic rock or alternative music. Who are your favourite artists? The Beatles, Tame Impala, Pond, the Flaming Lips, MGMT, Alex G, Melodys Echo Chamber, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Grandaddy. You go to a performing arts school. How is it different to a normal, non performing arts school? I assume that other schools have extra subjects such as religion, society and stuff like that. At my school, those ...

Review: Cruel by Instereo

Hello! It looks like 2018 is the start of something new for Instereo, who are now a duo since Ethan Karpathy left the group in December. On Friday 12th January, Chris Lanzon and Jakob Delgado released their new song, Cruel , which Ethan co-wrote before he left. Chris and Jakob have re-introduced themselves to their fans with a fresh new sound. When you listen to the track, you can hear Chris and Jakob's different and unique voices, which have matured greatly. The boys have worked very hard to polish and strengthen their vocals. It is evident in their delivery of Cruel and they blend well together. The lyrics of the song tell a story about girlfriends and their sometimes psychologically manipulative behaviour. It is very different to the songs they have released in the past. This song shows that they are not kids anymore, they are now almost adults. Instereo and their team have done an amazing job on the production of Cruel. The more you listen ...

Attending Concerts Alone

Hello! Photo Credit: hercampus.com Most people see concerts and movies as great activities to do as a group, and they are, but they don't have to be group outings. Most people prefer to go out in a group which is understandable. Maybe you think that going to events by yourself is weird, embarrassing or means you don't have any friends but it's not true. People have different reasons why they would go alone - their friends may not be interested in going to the concert or movie you want to go to or maybe the people you had planned to go with can't go anymore but it's okay. going to things like that alone is awesome! I am going to list some reasons why going to concerts and movies alone is the best. 1. You can decide what you want to go to and when. You don't have to wait around for people to want to go to concerts and movies with you. You can buy a ticket for yourself to any concert, decide which movie you want to see, and a session time. If you go a...
