Hello everyone!

I hope you all have had a great weekend. I have been enjoying the Olympic games and in this post I am going to share with you a few of my favourite moments from the first week.
1. Australia walking into the Opening Ceremony, led by cyclist Anna Meares.
2. Swimmer Mack Horton winning the 400m freestyle, giving Australia it's first gold medal of the games.

3. The US women's gymnastics team winning gold in the team final. Two of the gymnasts, Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman were in the 'Fierce Five' team that won in 2012. There was so much hype and excitement over this team. As the US have done so well in past Olympic games, everyone expected them to win again and of course they did!

4. Kyle Chalmers winning gold in the 100m freestyle. At just 18 years old, he is one of the youngest, Olympic champions in swimming. This morning, I watched him compete in the men's 4x100 medley relay. He brought Australia from 6th to third in the last few metres so thanks to him, they won the bronze medal! It must be an awesome feeling for Kyle to say he is an Olympic champion.

5. Fijian rugby team wins the country's first ever Olympic medal. After their win, hey huddled together and sang a song. It was one of the most emotional moments of the games.

6. Gymnast Simone Biles becomes the individual all-around champion. She is 19 years old and is the first woman to win three consecutive world all-around titles. She has been called the greatest American female gymnast of all time, with a total of fourteen medals, ten of them gold. She is an inspiration to so many young people all around the world.
She is my favourite gymnast and I was so happy I got to watch her.

7. Michael Phelps winning his 22 medals at his final Olympics. In every race, whether he gets a good start or not, he ends up a body length in front of the other competitors and no one can catch him. This morning, he competed in the 4x100 medley relay. He finished in 1 minute 54.66 seconds to win the event at his fourth Olympics. He now owns 26 Olympic medals, 22 of them gold. His fiancé and son have been in the stands watching every race. They must be so proud of him. During the National Anthem at his last individual medal ceremony, he cried. When it ended, he went up into the stands and cuddled his son. That was the most emotional moment of the games. He plans to retire now. Michael Phelps is the greatest swimmer in the world!

Have a great week everyone!
