Christmas Cards

The tradition of sending Christmas started back in 1843 in England, when a nobleman was too busy to send notes to his family and friends to wish them Merry Christmas so he hired a local artist to paint some ready-made cards to send out to them.  Now almost everything has gone digital and everyone sends texts, emails and uses social media to send wishes. In this post, I am sharing a few reasons why it's nice to send Christmas cards.  Picture found online Personal Greeting  Sending out a Christmas card is a more personal way of greeting everyone you care for and it implies a deep love that can't be expressed online. With texts and social media posts, you can wish happy holiday to many people at once, but they are impersonal and some people love to receive a card in the mail. They appreciate that you took the time to sit down and actually write a message to them.  Update a family photo Some people design their own card with a family photo on the  front. Families are ...

Dalgona Coffee

Photo from  https://tasty.co/ Dalgona Coffee, named after Korean sugar candy, went viral on social  media in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when people started posting videos of themselves whipping coffee by hand, so it is also called whipped coffee.  It is very easy to make. All you need is instant coffee powder, sugar and hot water. 1. Put 2 tablespoons of hot water, 2 tablespoons of instant coffee powder and sugar in a bowl. 2. Use an electric beater or hand-held milk frother to whip the mixture until it is light and fluffy. You could whip it with a fork but it will be more difficult and take longer. 3. Fill a cup with ice and milk and spoon some of the whipped coffee mixture on top. 4. Stir and enjoy! That's all there is to it. You can enjoy a delicious cup of dalgona or whipped coffee in summer or anytime youfeel like having something different to you're usual coffee.  Dalgona Sugar Candy Photo from https://www.taste.com.au/

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Last Saturday marked the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death and after seeing all the tributes, photos and videos on social media, I'm reflecting on the mourning period and the day England and the world said goodbye to the longest reigning monarch. As I watched the Lying-In-State and funeral, I was curious about who the people standing guard and marching in the processions are and what their actual jobs are, so I did some research and here I am sharing what I found.  The Organiser Queen Elizabeth II's funeral was organised by Edward Fitzalan-Howard, the 18th Duke of Norfolk. As the highest ranking Duke in the country, he holds the title of Earl Marshall and his role involves overseeing major ceremonial occasion, such as the Platinum Jubilee, Queen's funeral and the King's coronation. Lying In State Three ceremonial units kept vigil around the Queen's coffin as she was lying in state in Westminster Hall. The Gentleman of Arms , the most senior of the s...

Taylor Swift Ticket Chaos American singer Taylor Swift will be bringing the Eras Tour to Australia in February 2024 and the first release of tickets was chaos! The tickets went on sale for the first time last week as part of the AMEX presale and there were glitches before anyone even had a chance to buy anything. The VIP packages should have been released at 10am for the Sydney shows and 2pm for the Melbourne shows, but with so many eager fans on the AMEX ticket site early, the website crashed half an hour before the sale. In a statement released on Twitter, Ticketek apologised to Swifties and redirected them to its own site, and although people reported glitches from high traffic online,Ticketek maintained that it was working fine. The Amex site started working eventually but the crash resulted in lots of confusion and frustration as fans either didn't know what was happening ...
