Christmas Movies

Picture from FirstCry Parenting Hello everyone! There are only five more days till Christmas. How exciting is that! Netflix has so many great Christmas movies to watch and in this post, I am going to tell you about four movies I have watched recently.  Deck The Halls Deck The Halls is a 2006 film starring Danny DeVito, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Davis and Kristin Chenoweth. It is about two men, Steve and Buddy, who are neighbors trying to outdo each other in decorating their houses for Christmas. Buddy wants his house to be seen from space, so he decorates his house extravagantly, which causes a conflict with Steve.  Holiday in the Wild Kristin Davis stars in this film as Kate, who embarks on a solo trip to Africa after her husband ends their marriage. When she is there, she and a pilot named Derek rescue a baby elephant. While she is looking after it, she realizes how much she loves the place.  The Claus Family A boy named Jules hates Christmas, but after he disco...

Get into the Chistmas spirit

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Here are simple ways to get into the Christmas spirit.  1. Decorate! Of course you will be putting up a Christmas tree but you can make your bedroom and whole house look festive. Hang up spare tinsel, lights and other ornaments and decor pieces. You could find cheap Christmas bedding, cushions, blankets and rugs for your bedroom and add a small Christmas tree in there.  2. Watch movies There are so many great Christmas movies on Netflix right now! Get the family or some friends together, make some popcorn and enjoy a movie marathon. I suggest The Knight Before Christmas, Snowbound for Christmas, Love Hard and all three Princess Switch movies.  3. Listen to music Search for Christmas songs on Spotify and create a playlist to play while you're doing things around the house, on the way to and from work and in the car. It's always nice to hear Christmas carols and songs.  4. Go Christmas shopping If you're purchasing gifts ...

Sift over flour and whisk until it is smooth. This is a basic pancake batter. Melt two teaspoons of butter in a frying pan. Pour in the batter to form a large circle, a smaller circle and two triangles. and cook it for a couple of minutes until bubbles form, flip and cook it for another minute until it is done. Remove it and set it aside. Repeat this until all the batter is finished. Cut the bacon rashers in half and cook it until it is crip. Put Rudolph together by placing the large circle pancake on a plate and placing the smaller pancake ...

Behind the scenes of Harry Potter

This year is the twentieth anniversary of Harry Potter!!! The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, premiered in 2001 and as a huge fan of the series, I had to mark the anniversary somehow so here I am sharing some behind-the-scenes facts from the movies.  Chris Columbus, who directed the first film, wanted Daniel Radcliffe to play Harry potter after seeing him in a production of David Copperfield . Daniel's parents initially refused to let him audition but agreed after Columbus convinced them that Daniel would be protected from the media J.K. Rowling was asked to portray Harry's mother Lily during the Mirror of Erised scene, but she declined due to her not being an actress and worrying she would mess it up. Geraldine Somerville ended up taking the role.  Both Robin Williams and Rosie O'Donnell wanted to be cast in the film without pay, but Rowling turned them down because she wanted a strictly British cast. Williams wanted to play Hagrid and O'Donnell Mo...

Returning To Work

Hello everyone! A lot of people are returning to school and work in offices this week and in this post, I am sharing some tips on preparing to return to work and settling back into your office or workplace. Image from surewash.com 1. Talk about your anxiety and fears  It is natural to feel some anxiety about returning to work. If you are feeling anxious or feel nervous about anything, talk to your manager about it. They are there to support their employees and will understand how you may be feeling. They could find ways to make the transition easier for you.  2. Communicate with the team Communication is very important. Talk to the manager and your colleagues about what rules and safety measures are in place in your workplace and plan how the move back in will happen. Will everyone go back on the same day or one team/section at a time? Will you be in the office from Monday-Friday or could you go in two days to start with?  3. Re-wire your body clock.  In lockdown, yo...

Interview with Kyle Moore

Image from @lifesawreckpodcast Instagram I have been listening to a mental health podcast called Life's A Wreck since January this year and two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to interview the host, Kyle, over zoom. We talked about many things including how he go started in podcasting, his philosophy on life, why men don't talk about their mental health and how we can take care of our mental health in lockdown.  Read the interview here.  What is your podcast about? Life's a Wreck is a mental health podcast that I started back in 2019 originally as a way for me to document what I was going through mental health wise and steadily, it grew from a podcast that was just started for personal use to something that was a little bit bigger and had the opportunity to talk with some amazing people about the importance of everyday mental health and wellness. Life’s A Wreck is a bit of a philosophy that life is not always supposed to be good and sometimes you kind of have to laugh at a...
